Public services are often planned and delivered using data collected and managed solely by the public sector. However, third sector organisations hold unique data and intelligence on communities that could help improve decision making. There is also significant opportunity for third sector organisations to improve their services by using data collected and published by others across the public, private and third sectors.

This workshop will explore two themes:

1. Using data from the third sector – exploring the types of data being collected by third sector organisations and the beginnings of a movement around publishing open data.

2. Using data in the third sector – presenting case studies of third sector organisations who are putting data at the heart of decision making.Workshop participants will be asked to discuss how we can work together to maximise the opportunities related to data in the third sector.

The intended participants would be those within the third sector who have an interest in data, and people from the public, private and academia with an interest in using third sector data or helping to support organisations.
