ODI Aberdeen is Scotland’s first node in a network spanning 20 countries overseen by the Open Data Institute. Through peer-learning and collaboration, the network highlights the case for open innovation, and brings people together around our collective vision: knowledge for everyone.

The goal of this 2-hour workshop is to equip participants with the tools to build community around open data initiatives.

Participants will explore and develop approaches to maximise the reach, impact and long-term sustainability of open collaborative projects.

In the first part of the session attendees will be presented with case-studies illustrating the importance of data standards, best practice in usability and engagement.

The second part of the session will be interactive, giving attendees a chance to examine their own projects for opportunities and barriers for engagement. Participants will then be encouraged to share their own perspectives, opportunities, and challenges.

This event will best suit those working across different sectors, but who are involved in open-innovation, or the publication of open data; e.g. citizen scientists, data journalists, open access researchers, data publishers, and data portal owners.
